We are TheBestSchools.org. That is why we think it important to highlight academically distinguished colleges and universities.
Often schools distinguish themselves in comparison with other schools, which is why we provide rankings of colleges, universities, and their degree programs (go here).
But sometimes the issue is not how well a school is doing in comparison to others, but how well it is doing in terms of its own goals and aspirations.
Some schools fit into unique niches so that they have no effective competition. Other schools stand head and shoulders above the competition, so that drawing comparisons is unproductive. And sometimes individual schools simply have a cool angle on things that we want to underscore.
For all such reasons and more, TheBestSchools.org produces articles on individual schools. Note that we treat the concept of school quite broadly. Even a short, two-hour online course can, in our view, be a school. A school is wherever significant learning and personal transformation occurs.
That certainly includes traditional colleges and universities, but it is much broader. One of our goals at TheBestSchools.org is to expand the scope of your educational awareness so that you may begin to realize just how much is out there from which you can learn, grow, and profit.
